Get The Lowdown On A-MAZE-CADES™ From Gaming Corps

The popular studio has just unveiled a new mechanic, A-MAZE-CADES, that takes the cascade format to the next level 

Have you ever wondered where the ideas for the mechanics and bonus features that make online slots such fun to play come from? With A-MAZE-CADES™, a new twist on cascade slots from Gaming Corps, the idea was put forward by the studio’s math genius, Jon, at the local pub after a couple of pints. 

But the concept Jon suggested was more than just banter over a beer – it impressed the team so much that they immediately began to develop the concept further. The mechanic has now broken cover for the first time in the studio’s latest release, Wet and Wild Beavers A-MAZE-CADES. 

To learn more about the mechanic, we sat down with Connor Blinman, Head of Games at Gaming Corps. 

Your latest slot, Wet and Wild Beavers, features a brand new mechanic, A-MAZE-CADES. Tell us how it works and how it’s different to standard cascade slots?

A-MAZE-CADES is a brand new innovation that puts a huge twist on the standard cascading mechanic. The grid, set up in a 5×5 format, has a structure in the shape of a snaking maze with an entrance in the top right and an exit in the bottom left. With each winning combination, every symbol that’s part of the win is removed from the grid, and then the symbols will move and “cascade” from right to left through the maze towards the exit. This setup is entirely unique and has never been done before. It is something that we have had amazing feedback from partners and we are really excited to see how players react, too.

The objective for this game is to get the Wet and Wild Beavers from the top-right corner of the grid all the way to the bottom-left corner of the grid where they’ll collect. Collect all three in a single game round to trigger the Free Spins.

How does A-MAZE-CADES™ add more value to the player experience?

Cascade games can become quite predictable for players. A-MAZE-CADES™ on the other hand is very dynamic and hard to predict, and the wins that occur, plus the further A-MAZE-CADES™ that trigger on the same spin, deliver a welcome surprise. The entire mechanism on the grid is something that is very entertaining to watch on each spin. Overall spin length is a bit longer than a standard slot machine and this will add to the overall time on device for our players while being something that is incredibly fun to experience. 

How did you come up with the concept for the mechanic? Were you specifically focused on bringing a new cascade mechanic to the market, or did the concept just come to mind one day?

Part of our strategy to round off the year but also going into 2025 is to ensure that a portion of our games introduce brand new, innovative mechanics and concepts that have never been seen before. A-MAZE-CADES™ was conjured up by our expert mathematician, Jon, who introduced the idea to us at a pub last year. He explained why it would deliver such a thrilling player experience and immediately we knew that this was something that we should use to not create just one game but, potentially, a whole series of games.

Why did you choose Wet and Wild Beavers to debut A-MAZE-CADES™?

When originally developing the concept of the mechanic, we wanted to pair the idea with a very strong, fun yet casual theme and narrative. The idea was that we wanted to create this world that players would feel immersed in. On top of this, we wanted a game that would stand out in the market. Beaver themes are not especially common, but beavers are certainly a popular animal in the real world! This allows the game to hopefully stoke some curiosity for the player to the point they come in and play it, experiencing A-MAZE-CADES™ for the first time, too. 

What other bonus features does the game include and how does this tie in with the A-MAZE-CADES™ mechanic?

There are numerous other mechanics that all help the A-MAZE-CADES™ begin or help the A-MAZE-CADES™ continue further within a single game round. One feature, known as the Dam Flood feature, can trigger on non-winning spins. The reels will flood with Random Wild symbols, creating some chances to win!

But that’s not all. Whenever a Wet and Wild Beaver gets Collected, it will trigger a feature. There is an associated feature for each Beaver: Red Rocket, Old Blue and Yella Fella. All of the features help contribute towards helping the A-MAZE-CADES™ move forward. 

There is also a Second Chance feature where if a Beaver is on the leftmost reel, but the grid is static and not continuing, the Beaver can sometimes swim to the exit and get collected. Further to this, there is a Multiplier Charger active on every spin, and each cascade the game will collect a single symbol and contribute towards the Multiplier that applies to all future payline wins.

On top of all of this, there is a Free Spins feature where the Dam Flood feature is active on every single spin and the Wet and Wild Beavers will collect more frequently as they start in the middle position. For every third Beaver collected on a single Free Spin, there will be a re-trigger, awarding +4 Free Spins with a combination of each Beaver getting a +1 Multiplier. Each win with a Beaver will get multiplied on future spins, too.

Will A-MAZE-CADES appear in any more of your games moving forward?
